ST. GEORGE, Utah, Jan. 12, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A man identified by a St. George Police officer as a “known drug dealer” has been arrested for first-degree felony distribution of a controlled substance after a woman he allegedly sold to was found unresponsive with her year-old child crawling around used syringes on the floor.

Douglas Michael Reynolds, 33, was booked into jail Saturday afternoon. It was not immediately clear if the woman also was charged.

On Friday, “Officers conducted their investigation and found heroin which was partially used by the female, which caused the overdose,” say arrest documents filed by an officer of the St. George Police Department.

“Officers spoke with the female who admitted, just before the overdose, the female went and met with her drug dealer who she identified as Douglas Reynolds. She said she got the heroin from Douglas and came back to the residence, which is where she used the heroin.

“She told Officers Douglas was staying at random hotels and drove a white pickup truck.”

On Sunday, investigators learned that Reynolds was staying at the Claridge Inn. They made contact with Reynolds, “who was displaying multiple indicators of recent drug use,” his arrest document says.

“An interview was conducted and Douglas admitted to having drug paraphernalia in his bedroom.”

A search warrant was served, and officers found “more than 23 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and steroids.”

Reynolds admitted meeting the woman, who he said contacted him through a social media message, and selling her heroin, arrest documents say.

“Douglas is a known drug user and drug distributor in St. George. He has a long criminal history including multiple victim crimes,” the arresting officer wrote. “His choice to distribute heroin in St. George led to a female overdosing. If released, I believe Douglas would continue committing crimes creating more victims.”

A second arrest document was submitted in connection with the substances found in his room. That document shows he was arrested for investigation of:

  • Two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, one a second-degree felony and one a third-degree felony
  • Possession of a controlled substance schedule I/II/analog, a third-degree felony
  • Possession of controlled substance marijuana/spice, a class B misdemeanor
  • Use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

Reynolds was ordered held without bail.
