WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday morning in a crash near Ivins.

Crews from Dammeron Valley Fire & Rescue and Santa Clara-Ivins Fire & Rescue were dispatched at 2:06 a.m. to the site, just north of the Lava Flow Trailhead in Snow Canyon State Park, a DVFR statement says.

“The incident involved a single motorcycle, and the rider had been ejected, suffering critical injuries.”

A Life Flight helicopter responded to transport the patient to St. George Regional Hospital.

Although speed or equipment were not mentioned as factors in the press release, the following cautionary advice was included: “DVFR would like to remind everyone of the importance of obeying posted speed limits and exercising caution when traveling at night. As always we encourage all riders to wear helmets and to drive appropriate to the road conditions and traffic.”

The Washington County Sheriff‘s Office is investigating the incident. Four emergency vehicles responded, two from each fire department.
