LAYTON, Utah, July 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Layton City Fire Department, assisted by multiple agencies, knocked down a brush fire reported at about 2:40 p.m. Friday.
They responded to the area of 306 E. 900 South, which is west of Interstate 15 and south of Layton Parkway. The fire seems to have started on a fence.
“Crews responded to a fence on fire. The fire has extended to brush, and has jumped the train tracks,” a first Layton City Fire statement says.
“Multiple units responding. Working brush fire in Layton.
“We have units from multiple Davis Fire departments assisting. Please avoid the area of Layton Parkway and I-15.”
A second social media post followed about three hours later:
“Update: The brush fire has been controlled. Units remain on scene to extinguish hot spots. The power lines were affected, and the power company is aware. Train tracks have been returned to service. Cause is under investigation.”
