UTAH, Sept. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The National Weather Service has issued a hard freeze warning for West Central and Southwest Utah, Cache Valley, Western Uinta Basin, Sanpete/Sevier Valleys, and Wasatch Mountain Valleys.

The warning is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 24 expected Sunday night in some areas and 20 degrees Monday night.

Rural and outlying areas will see a hard freeze Sunday night, while the hard freeze will
be more widespread Monday night, according to NWS.

“Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the warning said.

“To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.”

The NWS said hard freezes are expected to continue Tuesday night and possibly Wednesday night.
