OGDEN, Utah, Dec. 27, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A pedestrian was killed and several others injured Friday in three suspected DUI crashes, believed to involve the same vehicle and driver, on Ogden’s Harrison Boulevard.

Ogden City police were alerted at 5:25 p.m., and rushed to the first site, in the area of 42nd Street and Harrison Boulevard. The driver had left the scene.

Four minutes later, calls came in about a suspect vehicle matching the same description, saying it had hit a pedestrian in the area of 20th Street on Harrison Boulevard. First responders from multiple agencies responded to help in the search, but once again, the driver had left the scene.

Two minutes after that, at 5:31 p.m., calls came in saying the suspect vehicle had struck another vehicle at 12th Street and Harrison Boulevard, injuring people involved in that collision. Those injuries were serious, but not life-threatening, an Ogden City Police news release says.

The driver was taken into custody at Harrison and 12th Street, the police statement says.

“The pedestrian struck at 20th and Harrison, an approximately 50-year-old male, suffered critical injuries,” the release says. “Officers and medical personnel provided immediate medical assistance before the individual was transported to the hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing at the intersection with the light when the suspect vehicle struck and pushed another vehicle into the pedestrian and fled.”

The incident is under investigation by the Weber/Morgan CRASH Team, the police statement says.

“Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact the Ogden Police Traffic Bureau at 801-395-8221.”
