SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – APRIL 16, 2015 (GEPHARDT DAILY) – Today was the Great Utah ShakeOut and hundreds of thousands of Utah’s across the state took cover at 10:15 a.m. to make sure they knew exactly what to do in an earthquake.

Over at Emergency Essentials in South Jordan, the crews were busy and several media outlets stopped by to bring attention to the cause. Carly Cash, a radio DJ for K-Bull 93 said they were there to support the cause because it is so important to spread awareness about what to do in an emergency situation. Other stations such as 98.7 FM and 1320 AM were also there discussing the importance how being prepared can save your life.

More than 840,000 Utahn’s had signed up this year for the ShakeOut including over 494,000 participants from K-12 schools, 133,000 participants from local government agencies, 21,000 from our state government and over 16,500 from the Federal Government. Others registered for the ShakeOut include businesses, non-profits, and media outlets.

If you missed the Shake, you can still register to hold your ShakeOut drill on any day of the year. The Facebook pages stats that “participating is a great way for your family or organization to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes – wherever you live, work, or travel. ShakeOut is also a major activity of America’s PrepareAthon!
