ALPINE, Utah, Nov. 15, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Lone Peak police are investigating after a dog was found shot to death in Alpine, just days before a similar incident in Eagle Mountain.
Officers responded to an address in Alpine where the owner found their dog deceased in the backyard on the evening of Nov. 5, the Lone Peak Police Department said in a news release on Facebook.
“When officers arrived, it appeared the animal had been shot with a firearm,” the news release said. “At this time, it is unknown what type or firearm was used in this incident.”
Utah County Sheriff’s Office officials said in a news release Tuesday that deputies with the Eagle Mountain division responded to a report from a woman who said she found her dog dead in her backyard near Autumn Drive and Elkridge Drive in the North Ranches area on Sunday.
The dog owner told deputies the incident happened between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.
“Deputies determined the dog had been shot in a fenced backyard with other dogs also in that yard,” the news release said. “The other dogs were not injured. There was at least one similar incident near this area earlier this year, but we do not know if the two incidents are related.”
It’s not known if the incidents in Eagle Mountain are related to the one in Alpine.
