PRICE, Utah, April 20, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A reward has been offered and a Facebook page set up for a dog who has so far survived being shot twice in the head.

“A $500 reward from a private citizen has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for shooting and abandoning the dog that has been given the name BluJay,” the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday online.

“The dog was found up Consumers Road in March. If you have any information on this case please call dispatch at 435-637-0890.”

The wounded dog was discovered in the mountains a few miles west of Helper, since adopted by Tanner Tamilos’ family, who set up a Facebook page for BluJay.

“‘BluJay’ was found up on a dirt road up Consumer’s Road in Carbon County abandoned and left for dead,” reads “Justice for BluJay Carbon County’s Fighter” on Facebook.

“After taking BluJay to the vet we quickly discovered that he had been shot two times in between the eyes. One bullet was lodged in his throat the other in his left eye.

“BluJay is now at Med Vet in SLC UT. He will have his left eye removed and be completely blind going forward. #JusticeforBluJay thank you so much to everyone for your love support and donations!” Created two weeks ago, the private page has 519 members, 97 joining in the past week.

“For everyone asking about updates on BluJay, join his Facebook group Justice for BluJay Carbon County’s Fighter,” Tamilos said online.

Kim Ragsdale and I share pictures and updates there. Thank you for loving our boy and following his story and journey. Remember, someone donated $500 reward to whoever can lead us to who hurt him.”
