DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 24, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Riverdale man with previous abuse convictions has been booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of inappropriate and abusive behavior against an intellectually disabled teen in Davis County.

The arrest stems from incidents alleged to have occured on June 5 in Bountiful. Charges against Jon David Stephens, 49, are:

  • Forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony
  • Object rape, a first-degree felony
  • Two counts of forcible sexual abuse

“Per mother, victim is intellectually disabled and the defendant is aware of it because mother had discussions with the defendant about victim’s disability,” the probable statement says, speaking of the 18-year-old alleged victim.

“When victim was alone with the defendant, the defendant took victim to her bedroom. The defendant asked victim if she could keep secrets.” The defendant then partially undressed himself and the victim, the statement said, and he performed sexual acts.

“The victim also disclosed that she told the defendant to ‘stop’ and that she ‘can’t do this’ multiple times, but the defendant would not listen,” the statement says. “The defendant has a prior conviction for sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.”
