SLCPD officers respond to double shooting in Ballpark neighborhood; victims, suspected gunman taken to hospital

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 4, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police who responded to the scene of reported gunfire Thursday morning found two men shot and one suspected shooter, whom they took into custody.

The 911 call came to dispatch at 5:19 a.m., Officer Yaier Javaid, Salt Lake City Police, told reporters at the scene. Officers responded to the scene, at 385 W. 1700 South, in the city’s Ballpark neighborhood.

Responding officers found two men with gunshot wounds, one with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and the other with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police also took the suspected gunman into custody, and was transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Circumstances that led to the shootings are being investigated, Javaid said.
