SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 17, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Multiple lanes of Interstate 80 were shut Tuesday morning after a van careened off the road and into a ravine.
Trooper Mark Thompson of the Utah Highway Patrol said that just after 11 a.m., a white van was traveling eastbound near the Lambs Canyon off ramp when the vehicle went off the left shoulder and came to rest in a small ravine.
The driver was transported to an area hospital but the extent of his injuries is not yet known.
As of 12:30 p.m. the Utah Department of Transportation updated that the off ramp is open at mile post 135, but the two left lanes are still closed. All lanes had re-opened by 1 p.m.
It is not yet known why the van left the roadway.
