MOAB, Utah, March 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A vehicle thought to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run 12 miles north of Moab has been located, but investigators won’t say where.
The victim, Cheryl G. Zimmerman, 50, from Lakewood, Colo., was found dead next to her vehicle shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce.
Royce told Gephardt Daily a passing motorist found Zimmerman’s body at the side of the road SR-191 near milepost 12 and called police.
Law enforcement officers from the Grand County Sheriff’s and the UHP said they got a break in the case by way of a tip.
“The Grand County Sheriff’s Office thanks the public for their response … The information received assisted this office to locate the vehicle involved in this accident.”
Investigators refused to release any more information.
Zimmerman’s official cause of death is still under investigation.
