Man attempts to steal $1K in tools from West Jordan Home Depot, knocks down employee

WEST JORDAN, Utah, Oct. 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly attempted to steal tools worth $1,100 from Home Deport in West Jordan, then pushed a cart into an employee who confronted him, knocking her down.

The incident occurred on Oct. 6 at the Home Depot at 1538 W. 9000 South, the West Jordan Police Department said in a news release on Facebook.

“This person entered Home Depot and selected two Milwaukee tools totaling around $1,100,” the news release said. “He walked out of the store with the items in the cart making no effort to pay for them. When an employee confronted him in the parking lot he pushed a cart into her, knocking her down.”

The employee was not seriously injured, officials said.

The man then fled on foot, abandoning the stolen items as he went.

The suspect appears to be Caucasian, with short brown hair. In surveillance photographs, he is wearing a bright orange long-sleeve T-shirt, blue jeans and tan shoes.
