MORONI, Utah, Dec. 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is facing multiple charges after she crashed her car into a home in Moroni while allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Shana Kaye McTee, 42, was arrested Sunday morning and is facing charges of class A misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug for any unlawful purpose, class A misdemeanor possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, four counts of class B misdemeanor possession of an altered or forged prescription, class B misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (second offense), class C misdemeanor open container in vehicle on a highway, class C misdemeanor failure to report an accident resulting in damage and infraction failure to operate within a single lane, according to a probable cause statement from Manti’s 6th District Court.
The arresting officer wrote in the probable cause statement that he was dispatched to a vehicle that had crashed into a home, with the driver attempting to leave the scene of the accident, at approximately 8:10 a.m. Three officers arrived on the scene 10 minutes later and saw that a vehicle that had driven off SR-132 at mile post 55 and gone into the front porch of a home on Duck Springs Drive.
“The front door to the home was broken, the front side door was also broken and was into the living room,” the probable cause statement said. “Two porch supports were down, two front porch freezers were broken with food spilled out on the ground.”
The homeowners were not home at the time of the crash, the probable cause statement said.
The arresting officer said he observed the suspect, later identified as McTee, sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. Ambulance personnel were on scene but McTee refused any medical attention.
“Shana was not acting normal, the front of her vehicle was smashed in with two
flat tires and Shana thought she could drive her vehicle away,” the statement said. “Shana stated that she had slid on some ice.”
Pill bottles were observed in her purse, which was sitting on the front passenger’s
seat, the statement said.
“Shana had this blank stare and was not answering questions reasonably,” the statement said. “The weather was very cold and she did not want to get into the ambulance or any other vehicle to get warm.”
She would not get out of the vehicle when asked by officer; the probable cause statement said she was asked “probably 10 plus times to exit her vehicle between the three deputies.” McTee was then arrested on suspicion of DUI and other charges.
At the jail, she refused to do any standard field sobriety testing. She was then
taken into the intoxilyzer room and refused to blow into the machine.
A half-full bottle of gin was found in the vehicle, along with five prescription
bottles, for Methocarbamol, Oxycodone, Vyvanse, and Phentemine. Other over-the-counter drugs were recovered from her purse.
A search warrant was obtained for her blood and urine. Her urine tested positive
for amphetamines, Oxycodone, Benzodiazepine and alcohol. McTee’s bail has been set at $9,640.
