LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 (UPI) — The man who ranks No. 3 All-Time in NBA rebounding saved his latest rip for a polarizing politician.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 68, wrote an article for the Washington Post titled “This is the difference between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.”
The NBA’s All-Time leading scorer netted the article with shots at Trump, saying the possible presidential candidate “authored his own doom.” Abdul-Jabbar noted Trump’s performance during Fox’s GOP debate and responses regarding “his attitude toward women” during a discussion with Megyn Kelly.
“He followed up this salvo on the First Amendment with a strike at the 14th Amendment, asserting that he’d like to deny those born in the country their citizenship,” Abdul-Jabbar wrote. “The biggest enemy to the principles of the Constitution right now is Trump.”
Trump didn’t take long to respond to Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabbar promptly posted Trump’s response on his Facebook account.
Trump wrote: “Kareem – Now I know why the press always treated you so badly — they couldn’t stand you. The fact is that you don’t have a clue about life and what has to be done to make America great again! Best wishes
Donald Trump”
Abdul-Jabbar responded to the Sharpie marker Trump take by saying: “This note from Donald Trump in response to my editorial is the best, though inelegant, support for my claims. Here again he attacks a journalist who disagrees with him, not by disputing the points made but by hurling schoolyard insults such as “nobody likes you.” But if you look behind the nasty invective, you find the assault still remains against the Constitution in an effort to silence the press through intimidation.”
