FORT WORTH, Texas, June 25 (UPI) — Two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting at a dance studio early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Fort Worth police said that officers responded to a “shots fired” call after gunshots were heard coming from a warehouse in the 2400 block of East Lancaster Ave. where a party was taking place.
“An unknown number of people with firearms began shooting at each other outside of the warehouse and from across the street,” police said. “Several people were struck during the exchange of gunfire.”
Police determined that the area had been rented out for a party and witnessed a person fleeing the warehouse and firing a weapon on their way out.
Laura Reyna who owns Studio 74, a dance studio run out of the warehouse where the shooting occurred, shared a Facebook post denying any connection to the event.
“We as a dance family had no involvement with the incident that occurred last night,” they wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Please continue to pray for them.”
She also told the Star-Telegram that she rents out the studio for events, but no such contract was given to the group in the venue on the night of the shooting.
“The saddest thing is that my kids that will walk in will be more crushed than anything,” she said. “Because they built this place, local artists here have built this place…for somebody to come in and take advantage of my kindness, it’s a really sad thing.”
Fort Worth police are investigating the situation with the assistance of the department’s gang unit to determine if any gang members were involved in the shooting.
Emulate the gang bang culture, die by the gang bang culture. If you check out the Studio 74 website, you’ll notice that Laura’s “kids” (dance troop), are dressed as gang-banger’s with the bandanna’s over the face and all. First thing this lady does is try to distance herself from responsibility. “They didn’t have a contract, so they were trespassing”. Haha, someone let them in, and your employee’s were there and noticed guns, but decided not to tell anyone until people started shooting. I am sure that this establishment has never, ever required a contract for it’s late night parties. The cash at the door, I’m sure get’s reported as revenue under NFP. What a joke, say goodbye to your gang bang studio Laura. Your too stupid to realize that you perpetuated this situation.
