KANARRAVILLE, Utah, July 18, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – The Iron County Sheriff’s Office has named a suspect they say is responsible for the shooting death of a 33-year-old man in Kanarraville Wednesday night.

According to the sheriff’s office the shooter is Kyle Jessop, 18, a resident of Kanarraville.

“At 7:53 PM, a 911 call was received from an 18-year-old resident of Kanarraville, Kyle Jessop, reporting that he had just shot another man who had attempted to sexually assault him. Jessop was interviewed by sheriff detectives and was later booked into the Iron County Jail.

He now faces multiple charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful consumption of alcohol as a minor.

“The case is ongoing, and we are awaiting the autopsy results,” the press release said.

“We will keep you updated as the investigation continues. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Cedar City Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance for their swift response to the scene and the State Bureau of Investigation for their help processing the crime scene.
