KANARRAVILLE, Utah, July 18, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – The Iron County Sheriff’s Office has named a suspect they say is responsible for the shooting death of a 33-year-old man in Kanarraville Wednesday night.
According to the sheriff’s office the shooter is Kyle Jessop, 18, a resident of Kanarraville.
“At 7:53 PM, a 911 call was received from an 18-year-old resident of Kanarraville, Kyle Jessop, reporting that he had just shot another man who had attempted to sexually assault him. Jessop then secured the firearm inside the residence, cooperated with law enforcement, and was taken into custody without further incident,” the sheriff’s office said in Thursday afternoon press release.
“The victim was found outside the residence and, despite the efforts of medical personnel, succumbed to his injuries. Upon processing the scene, law enforcement located firearms and illicit substances within the residence. Iron County Sheriff’s Crime Scene personnel conducted a thorough investigation, and the case remains under active investigation at this time.”
Jessop was interviewed by sheriff detectives and was later booked into the Iron County Jail.
He now faces multiple charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful consumption of alcohol as a minor.
“The case is ongoing, and we are awaiting the autopsy results,” the press release said.
