August 17, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has hired another actor to play Colonel Sander. Just a few months after the mega-chain announced “Saturday Night Live” alum Darrell Hammond would revive the chain’s iconic character, KFC has hired another SNL veteran to play the Colonel.

According to a press release, Norm MacDonald will now be the one to portray the iconic chicken pitchman.

The official KFC press release states: “For the first ads, we rebooted things that made Kentucky Fried Chicken the most favorite chicken brand in the world.

We brought back the Colonel’s iconic office, his white stretch limo, and the children’s mandolin band he outfitted with instruments and white Colonel Suits to create authentic Kentucky bluegrass music.”

“And the new set of ads are more of that same homage to the things that made Kentucky Fried Chicken such an important part of American families.”

KFC’s chief marketing officer Kevin Hochman notes: “Other than not quite looking like him, his voice being different, and his inability to cook the world’s best chicken, we thought Norm was the perfect choice to play the Real Colonel.”

As part of the deal, Macdonald stars in new commercials which show him hanging out in a stretch limo, in his office, and with “children’s mandolin band.”

KFC announced the hiring of Hammond as part of its weird and wacky makeover which included a strange Atari-style game. In the game, players must make the Colonel face punch his client to earn a golden drumstick.

The update also included the introduction of a GPS App that sounds like the Colonel.

When asked why KFC hired another Colonel, a spokesperson told Eater: “Colonel Sanders was too big a personality to be portrayed by just one person.”
