LAKE CHARLES, La., Sept. 8 (UPI) — A pink dolphin first spotted in a Louisiana river in 2007 has returned to the area and may be pregnant after being seen mating, a charter boat captain said.
Capt. Erik Rue of Calcasieu Charter Service first spotted the pink albino dolphin as a baby in 2007, but he said the aquatic mammal has returned to the Calcasieu River as a full-grown adult.
“We still see her swimming almost every day in the summertime. We’ve seen her a lot in the last few weeks. She looks happy and healthy,” Rue told WGNO-TV.
Rue said the dolphin, dubbed Pinky by admirers, is “100 percent pink — you know, like, the color of most dolphins bellies, but her whole body is pink.”
Rue said he recently saw Pinky mating and he suspects she might now be pregnant.
