WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) — Drake may have a winning one-up on rapper Meek Mill amid their hip-hop beef: “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” is the first 2015 release to sell over a million copies.
According to reports, the surprise mixtape — not even considered a full album — reached 1.007 million sales in the United States Monday. This is the Canadian rapper’s fourth record in a row to reach platinum status.
The last artist to breach a million was Taylor Swift‘s “1989” in November 2014.
To celebrate the achievement, Drizzy posted a shot of the simplistic mixtape cover. “Platinum off the tape. Views up next,” he wrote. “Thank you once again.”
His next official studio album, “Views From the Six”, is expected to come out in September, according to Business Insider.
