‘Jurassic World’ Sequel Gets a 2018 Release Date

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., July 23 (UPI) — Universal Pictures announced Thursday the release date for the fifth installment in its Jurassic Park film franchise.

The followup to this summer’s blockbuster behemoth Jurassic World is set to open June 22, 2018.

No details regarding the title, plot or casting were immediately revealed.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow, the most recent movie starred Chris Pratt as a resourceful creature trainer who comes to the rescue when a genetically engineered dinosaur — Indominus rex — wreaks havoc at a prehistoric-themed tourist attraction. Bryce Dallas Howard and Vincent D’Onofrio co-starred in the film, which was No. 1 in North America for four weeks and has so far earned more than $1.5 billion globally.
