NEW YORK – October 7, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — The cast of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” reunited on the “Today Show” for the first time in 25 years to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary.
The film, which premiered in 1975, tells the tale of newly engaged couple Brad and Janet who encounter a problem when their car halts in the rain. They find themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite.
A place to stay is offered, but will Brad and Janet want to remain there?
Since it’s opening, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” has achieved cult status with ongoing midnight showings, conventions, audience involvement and dancing in the aisles.
The 40th anniversary brought Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Meat Loaf, Patricia Quinn, and Tim Curry together again on NBC’s “Today.” The cast sat down with NBC’s Joe Fryer and ‘time warped’ back to the 70’s.
The actors revealed some inside information about the creation of the film, which was originally a stage play, and discussed the various reasons for “Rocky Horror’s” staying power all these years.
