HERRIMAN, Utah, Sept. 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are at the scene of a crash along Herriman Highway in which three people were killed when their vehicle left the road and plunged into a ravine.

Lt. Cody Stromberg, Herriman Police Department, told Gephardt Daily a 911 call was received at 4:30 p.m. when a passerby reported spotting a red passenger car in the ravine north of 7300 West and Herriman Highway.

The passerby said the victims’ bodies were still inside the car.

“When officers arrived, they discovered the vehicle was occupied by three individuals, all of whom are deceased,” Stromberg said.

Officials estimate the car has been in the ravine for several hours, but are unsure exactly when the crash occurred, he said.

“We’re investigating the cause of the accident, as well as what caused the vehicle to leave the road,” Stromberg said, adding that officials have been unable to verify the ages or genders of the three victims.

“We’re working to collect evidence prior to extricating them from the vehicle.”

Gephardt Daily has a crew on scene and will update the story as more information becomes available.
