CACHE COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Cache County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a vehicle that was apparently destroyed by fire, with a badly burned body in it.
According to a news release from the CCSO, at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that appeared to be destroyed by fire. The vehicle is on rural private property on the west side of Cache County, near Petersboro.
Deputies located the vehicle and confirmed that a badly burned body is inside, the release states. The fire was not actively burning at the time of the deputies’ arrival, and appeared to have been burned within the last day or so.
Detectives from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office and the State Medical Examiner’s Office, along with resources from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were dispatched to the scene.
On Monday afternoon, police updated that the burned vehicle has been moved to the Sheriff’s Office. The burned body has been transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and to find the cause of death of the person.
