CEDAR CITY, Utah, Nov. 6, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A Cedar City woman was stabbed multiple times in the neck, chest and upper body during a home invasion early Sunday morning, police said.
A news release from Cedar City Police Department said officers were dispatched to reports of a home-invasion stabbing at 4 a.m. at a residence in the 1300 West block of 1500 South.
When officers arrived they found the suspect, 19-year-old Ismael Lopez, from Cedar City, being held down by the homeowner.
They also found a female victim, the homeowner’s wife, with multiple stab wounds. She was immediately transported to Cedar City Hospital for emergency treatment. Her wounds do not appear to be life threatening, police said.
Police said there were children in the home at the time but no one else was injured.
Lopez suffered minor wounds to his hand and was treated at Cedar City Hospital and later released. Lopez is currently in the custody of the Cedar City Police Department.
The motive for the stabbing is unknown at this time. Detectives and crime scene technicians are still processing the scene and interviewing witnesses and the suspect.
