SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Feb. 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were transported to the hospital Saturday night after one of them ran a red light on Bangerter Highway.
South Jordan Police Sgt. Matt Brown told Gephardt Daily the crash occurred at 11400 S. Bangerter just after 6:30 p.m., when a westbound car ran a red light.
An SUV heading south on Bangerter was unable to stop and crashed into the passenger car. Brown said witnesses told police the southbound vehicle had a green light.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged, but Sgt. Brown said only two people were taken to the hospital — the male driver of the car that ran the light and a female passenger in the SUV. He said their injuries were not serious. No one else was injured in the collision.
Several accidents have occurred in the area lately, most often because drivers don’t notice that a left turn is prohibited there.
Brown said people really need to “be mindful of the construction” and not be in a hurry to get through the area.
