HURRICANE, Utah, July 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 15-year-old boy from Hurricane is dead after falling from a 200-foot cliff in the town Sunday evening, police said.
He has been identified as Pierce J. Adamson, said Sgt. Brandon Buell, spokesman for Hurricane City Police Department.
Buell said at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers and medical personnel were dispatched to the area of 1100 S. 100 West in Hurricane on a report of a male who had fallen from a cliff. First responders arrived on scene and the male was found deceased.
Adamson was hiking to the top of the cliff with an adult family member, said Buell. Once at the top, Adamson was standing at the edge of the cliff and the rocks gave way, causing him to fall. The family member with him contacted dispatch.
The terrain in the area that Adamson was located is very rugged and rocky, and Washington County Search and Rescue responded to assist with recovery.
There are no indicators of anything suspicious involved in this incident, but an investigation is ongoing.
Buell added: “The impact of his death has rattled our community. Our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and community.”
