Murray police investigating attempted abduction on Jordan River Parkway

MURRAY, Utah, April 19, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Murray are investigating an attempted abduction that occurred early Friday evening, and they are hoping the public can help.

Sgt. Alisha Richmond, Murray Police Department, told Gephardt Daily a 9-year-old boy was riding his bike on the Jordan River Parkway at about 5 p.m., when a man, who was on foot and carrying a fishing pole, grabbed the boy by the shoulder, pulling him backward.

Richmond said the boy pulled away from the man and quickly rode home and reported what had happened.

The man is described as black, about 40 to 50 years old, balding on top with very short hair on the sides and back of his head. He is about 6 feet tall and very thin.

Anyone who saw anything or who has any information that could help Murray Police locate the man is asked to call dispatch at 801-840-4000.
