OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 16, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden City Police arrested a 22-year-old man early Saturday morning after he allegedly stabbed a man whose vehicle he was accused of burglarizing.
OCPD officers responded to the 1100 north block of Quincy Avenue.
“A victim reported that he had been stabbed by an unknown suspect after he observed two individuals rummaging through his vehicle. The victim chased two suspects into a nearby church parking lot trying to gather back any belongings they might have taken.
“In the church parking lot, one of the males, later identified as Christian Becerra (Christian), turned, brandished a knife, and stabbed the victim in the upper right side of his chest. The victim suffered a puncture to their right lung, as a result of the stab wound.”
The victim described the suspect who stabbed him as a Hispanic male wearing a cream-colored hoodie and a dark-colored, baseball-style hat.
“Officers searched the area and located Christian who matched this description,” says Becerra’s affidavit, filed by an officer of the OCPD. “Christian was in the area, sweating and out of breath. Christian admitted to coming from the general area of where the stabbing occurred. While the suspect was detained, THC ‘dab’ cartridges and marijuana paraphernalia were located on his person and he was placed under arrest.”
It is not clear whether a second suspect was located or arrested.
“Christian was transported to the OPD station and a post Miranda interview was conducted. Christian admitted to trespassing in the victim’s vehicle and later stabbing him, after the victim ran after them into the church parking lot. Christian claimed the victim had assaulted him prior to the stabbing but he had no visible injuries that matched his recollection of events.”
Becerra was booked for investigation of alleged:
- Aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony
- Possession of controlled substances marijuana/spice, a class B misdemeanor
- Criminal trespass – intended annoy/injure/crime/fear, a class B misdemeanor
- Use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor
Becerra was ordered held without bail in the Weber County jail system.
