SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 19, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police responded to a crash at 500 South and 300 West late Monday afternoon and found an SUV wedged against a building after it was hit by another vehicle and rolled.

Salt Lake City Police Lt. Russ Amott said witnesses told officers the Ford Explorer SUV was heading north on 300 West and may have run through the red light.

The Explorer, with two people inside, was clipped by a car going west on 500 South.

Amott said the impact flipped the Explorer and it rolled, narrowly missing a power pole and a gas meter.

The people involved were evaluated by fire department medical personnel, and Amott said their injuries were “very minor.” He said he believed all parties were wearing seat belts.

No names or ages were immediately available, and the crash was still under investigation Monday evening. It wasn’t yet known who, if anyone, would be cited in the crash.

Amott pointed out that the accident happened “at the tail end of rush hour.”

“If it had happened earlier when there was more traffic, it could have been much worse,” he said.
