ST. GEORGE, Utah, Sept. 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A St. George man has been booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility after the “suspicious” death of his wife.

St. George police were dispatched at about 8:35 p.m. Monday, and responded to a residence in the area of 2800 South and 2300 East after a call came in regarding a cardiac arrest.

“When officers arrived on scene they found Niki A. Sampson (47) deceased inside the home,” a SGPD statement says.

“Circumstances around her death were suspicious and upon further investigation, her husband, Eric L. Sampson (50) was identified as a suspect and arrested. Eric was booked into Purgatory and charged with DV Aggravated Assault and Murder.”

As in all cases, charges will be determined by the county attorney’s office.

The department asked anyone with information to share regarding the couple or this case to call the St. George Police Department Tip Line at 435-627-4338.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends affected by this tragic incident.”
