VERNAL, Utah, Sept. 24, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was flown to a Salt Lake area hospital for treatment after a stabbing in Vernal Monday afternoon.
Law enforcement was dispatched to a reported physical altercation in front of a residence at approximately 4 p.m., according to a news release from Vernal City Police Department.
“Upon arrival by law enforcement, officers determined that the suspect involved had left the residence as a passenger in a vehicle,” the news release said. “The officer on scene discovered a substantial amount of blood in the driveway.”
The victim, identified as Donovan Paulus, was transported to the Ashley Regional Medical Center emergency room with a stab wound. He was later flown to a Salt Lake City area hospital for medical treatment. An update on Paulus’ condition is unavailable at this time, officials said.
“Investigation revealed that a physical altercation occurred at the residence, and that the victim had gotten into the passenger side of a vehicle at the scene when he was stabbed through the open window by 21-year-old Vernal resident Meikel Cameron, whom he lives with,” the news release said.
Cameron was located and booked into the Uintah County Jail for aggravated assault.
