Update: Teen pulled from icy pond in Ogden dies

OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 28, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A teenage boy who fell through the ice of Ogden’s Glasmann Pond has died, Ogden City Police confirmed.

The incident happened after two boy reportedly went fishing at the pond, just south of Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital, and fell through the ice. The incident was reported at 4:32 p.m. Monday.

One boy was able to pull himself out, but the second remained submerged while emergency crews rushed to the scene. After a search that took a couple hours, a diver recovered the missing boy, who was still alive, Lt. Will Farr, Ogden City Police, told Gephardt Daily.

The boy was taken to a local hospital, then airlifted to to Primary Children’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Both boys were 14, Farr said.

The boy who was able to pull himself out of the pond was checked out at a local hospital for minor injuries, Farr said, adding he had no additional information on the survivor’s condition.
