TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, July 22, 2023 (Gephardt Daily) — The Rocky Fire near Ibapah in Tooele County grew from 500 acres Friday night to 1,300 acres before it was fully contained Saturday afternoon.
“Today, firefighters are utilizing engines and a dozer to improve containment lines, and mop-up hot spots within the fire perimeter,” Utah Fire Info stated in a tweet announcing 100% containment about 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Rocky Fire on Bureau of Land Management land near the Utah-Nevada border was first reported Friday afternoon.
No structures were threatened, and no evacuations were necessary during the fire, state wildfire officials said.
The cause of the wildfire is not yet known.
