TOOELE, Utah, Aug. 3, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men are hospitalized after Tooele police say one was shot during a “homicide attempt,” and the second, believed by Tooele City police to be the shooter, crashed his vehicle while fleeing Tooele County Sheriff deputies.

Cpl. Colbey Bentley, Tooele City Police spokesman, said the call of a shooting came in at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, and officers responded to the Vorwaller Homestead & RV Park., on Tooele’s Main Street.

“I’m still getting more details as the day goes on, but essentially, what we have is an attempted homicide,” Bentley told Gephardt Daily.

“That male victim was Life-Flighted to a Salt Lake area hospital.”

The alleged suspect had left the area, but “the Tooele County Sheriff‘s Office was able to locate the suspect in their jurisdiction. They got into a vehicle pursuit, and from what I know, the suspect crashed, and they were able to apprehend him.”

Bentley said the man who crashed after fleeing deputies was also transported to a hospital for treatment, and had not been charged as of noon Saturday.

“We’re looking at attempted homicide on our end, but we’re still looking to talk to the victim more to see what happened.”

The victim and the suspect are still in the hospital, he said.

“We’re still waiting to hear back on patient conditions”

The men’s names have not been released, nor has any possible motivation for the shooting.

Gephardt Daily will have additional information as facts are released.
