SPANISH FORK, Utah, Aug. 26, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Two employees of Nature’s Sunshine Products were injured in a flash fire resulting from an explosion at the Spanish Fork plant Monday morning.

Spanish Fork spokesman Jack Urquhart told Gephardt Daily the call came to dispatch at about 9:20 a.m. Monday, and Spanish Fork Police, Fire & EMS responded to the commercial fire site, at 1655 N. Main St.

“It was a flash explosion that consumed itself and burned itself out quickly,” Urquhart said.

“There were two employees with minor injuries that were treated on site. Employees were evacuated. Their alarms and sprinklers worked properly. We no longer have any staff on site,” he said at 12:30 p.m.

“They did some readings afterward and didn’t detect any remainder of dangerous chemicals anywhere in the building.”

A fire marshal responded to determine whether the building is safe and to assess what caused the explosion, Urquhart said.

Fire crews from Mapleton, Payson and Utah Valley also responded to assist.
