UHP releases info on victims killed wrong-way 1-15 collision in Millard County

MILLARD COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol has released an update on the double-fatal accident Thursday on Interstate 15 south of Kanosh.

Two people died. One was Melissa MacDonald, 55, from North Miami, Florida. The other was a 10-year-old boy, whose name and city of residence are not being released due to his juvenile status.

The accident happened when MacDonald, driving a Toyota Corolla, was traveling south in a northbound lane near mile marker 132, in Millard County. The child was a passenger in a Dodge truck that was traveling north in a northbound lane.

“The two vehicles struck head-on,” the UHP statement says. “The driver of the Toyota and a juvenile passenger of the Dodge truck were killed in the crash, the driver and two juvenile passengers of the truck were transported to several hospitals with serious injuries.”

It appears all people involved were wearing seatbelts, the statement says, adding that “This crash is currently under investigation and this information is preliminary.”
