SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake Police have released a surveillance photograph of a vehicle they say was used in the drive-by shooting of 47-year-old woman in her eastside residence in Salt Lake City Friday morning.
The tweet from Salt Lake City Police Department states: “This is a photo of the vehicle used in the drive-by shooting death of 47-year-old Wanyun Judd on Sept. 28. Anyone with information is asked to contact SLCPD. Judd was sleeping in her home when police believe it was incorrectly targeted in a shooting.”
A follow-up tweet added a reward is being offered “for information leading to successful prosecution in this case.”
SLCPD Detective Keith Horrocks told Gephardt Daily a call of shots fired came to dispatch at 6:24 a.m. The crime scene was 54 E. Harrison Ave., just east of 1100 East, southeast of Emerson Elementary.
“We had officers in the area who heard the shots, and were able to respond pretty quickly to the scene,” Horrocks said at the scene.
“We had a 47-year-old female who was inside the residence who was hit by gunfire. She was transported to a local hospital with very critical injuries, and has subsequently succumbed to those injuries.”
Early evidence suggests the Judd was shot through her window. A vehicle sped away from the scene.
“We know the vehicle drove eastbound through the alley,” Horrocks said. “It went up to State, then went southbound on State.”
At this time there is no description of the suspect or suspects.
