Utah COVID-19 update: 6 more deaths, 418 new cases documented in past day

UTAH, May 13, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Thursday reported 418 new cases of COVID-19 and six deaths documented in the past day.

Positive cases now stand at 401,669. Of the six deaths, three occurred prior to April 13, but were just documented. Total virus deaths in Utah now stand at 2,255.

The six who died were:

  • Two Iron County men between 65 and 84, hospitalized at time of death
  • A Salt Lake County man between 45 and 64, hospitalized at time of death
  • A Salt Lake County woman, older than 85, a long-term care facility resident
  • A Tooele County woman, older than 85, a long-term care facility resident
  • A Utah County man, older than 85, a long-term care facility resident

Vaccines administered in Utah number 2,355,333, an increase of 14,578 since Monday.

COVID-19 tests have been given to 2,623,583 people, an increase of 6,562 people since Tuesday. Tests administered number 4,781,911, an increase of 14,677 since yesterday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 328 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 6.7%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.6%.

There are 152 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 16,467.
