“We just want answers and we want to find her,” said Rosemberg Salgado, Elizabeth’s uncle. “Our family is not doing well, this has been very stressful for us. It has been very hard and very painful. We feel we can’t live our lives like a normal people,” said Salgado.

Captain Todd Grossgebauer of the Provo Police Department said that the investigation is still active. “We continue to stay involved and engaged in the search for Elizabeth and we will continue to be until we find her. We have reached out to other agencies who have experience in missing persons cases to see what else we can do, what maybe we still need to do,” said Grossgebauer.

On May 14, the Provo Police listed many of the things they have been doing to try to find Elizabeth including Notifying Homeland Security, the FBI as well as registered her information with the NCIC as missing endangered and notified immigration with Elena’s name and description to monitor for any international flight or border crossing. The list is long but Grossgebauer said that while there maybe thousands of missing people across the country, there is only one in Provo.

“We still do all those things. We continue stay in touch with our federal partners in the event she is no longer in Utah and still meet with the family every week. We continue to follow every tip and lead and continue to be optimistic,” said Grossgebauer.

Family, friends and even strangers have come together over the past couple of months since Elizabeth disappeared on April 16, 2015. There have been numerous search efforts and hundreds of volunteers and countless hours spent by the Provo Police investigating her disappearance.

Elizabeth’s mother and her two brothers are still here from Mexico as they work with the community and police in the search for answers.

“We are begging the whole community to help us. We want to do more searches and we need to keep spreading the word out into the community so they can keep helping us in our search for Elizabeth,” said her uncle.

Elizabeth, a returned missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had only been in the area for about a month when she disappeared.

She is described as 5’4″ to 5’5″ inches tall, 120 to 130 lbs., with long black hair and brown eyes.

Detectives say she was last seen wearing a denim jacket, blue jeans with black or brown knee high boots. She was reportedly carrying a denim handbag with red straps.

Anyone information regarding Elizabeth is asked to contact Detective Ringel at 801-852-7307 or the Provo Police Department at 801-852-6210.
