NEVADA, Dec. 9, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The U.S. Geological Survey has reported a magnitude 5.5 earthquake Monday in Nevada.
The quake occurred about 15 miles north northeast of Yearlington, Nevada. It originated at a depth of almost 0.4 miles beneath the earth’s surface. It was originally reported as being 5.7 magnitude before it was downgraded.
It happened at about 3:08 p.m. Pacific time.
According to news reports, it could be felt as far away as Sacramento.
Initial reports did not report damage or injuries.
According to the USGS “did you feel it” data, 8,468 people had reported feeling the quake as of 4:24 p.m. Monday Pacific time.
