SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 14, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The driver of a Jeep was seriously injured Saturday afternoon after colliding with a TRAX train at 700 South West Temple.

Salt Lake City PD first reported the crash on social media at 3:23 p.m.

“We are assisting @RideUTA Police investigate a crash involving a Jeep and a TRAX train at 700 South West Temple,” the SLCPD post said.

“Paramedics have taken the driver to the hospital in serious condition. No train passengers were injured.”

The Utah Transit Authority followed up with a series of social media posts throughout the afternoon and evening, advising TRAX users that service would be interrupted across multiple routes and riders could expect delays system-wide.

At 9:01 p.m., UTA posted a final update on X saying, “All TRAX Lines have resumed their regular schedules with possible intermittent delays of up to 15 minutes. These delays are anticipated to last until the end of service this evening.”

UTA’s Fran Gavin told Gephardt Daily the Jeep driver had suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, Gavin said.
