A Salt Lake City man by the name of Jack King ate at “Salt Lake’s best kept secret for lunch,” Benihana, 579 times in 2014.

King was a frequent customer at the Benihana in Salt Lake City, so frequent that the manager encouraged him to work towards the “Passport Challenge.” A nationwide challenge that had two categories: the number of different Benihana locations across the country and the total number of visits to Benihana. Contestants were allowed to count one meal every 12 hours per location.

The winner of the total number of visits to Benihana would receive a $1000 gift card and a trip for two to any Benihana location in the U.S. of his or her choice.

King first began eating at the Salt Lake City location as a teenager and became a regular customer over the last 10 years.

However, during the year of 2014 he averaged 1.5 visits a day. King told the Salt Lake Tribune that he never got sick of the menu because there were enough options that he was always interested. If King wasn’t able to make it for lunch, he would head over for dinner. But if he wasn’t able to make it to lunch or dinner, he would grab a snack to go.
