WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 24, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were arrested early Monday morning and a third person was questioned and released following a brief pursuit of a suspicious vehicle that turned out to be stolen.
The incident began shortly after midnight, when officers attempted to stop the car outside of an apartment complex near 3000 West and 3500 South, West Valley City Police Lt. Todd Gray said.
“It was a stolen vehicle. They fled, but the tires were spiked,” Gray told Gephardt Daily.
The suspects crashed into a parked car as they tried to get away.
An adult male passenger was taken into custody immediately, but the male driver and a female passenger, also adults, took off running.
Officers from West Valley, Unified, and West Jordan police departments set up a containment area and brought in the canines to search for the two suspects who bolted.
“A canine from West Valley City found them,” Gray said. “The driver was found hiding in a dumpster, and the female was hiding in the bushes.”
The driver and the woman were taken to jail and will be facing charges for the stolen vehicle, evading, and resisting arrest.
Gray said the male passenger will be released.
