VERNAL, Utah, July 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were seriously injured in a small plane crash in Vernal on Monday morning.
The Cessna 162 Skycatcher was occupied by an 18-year-old woman and her 27-year-old instructor, according to a news release from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office.
“The instructor was demonstrating a takeoff technique when the plane stalled approximately 100 feet in the air,” the news release said. “The instructor attempted to get power back, but was unsuccessful as the plane crashed onto the shoulder of the runway and then skidded across it where it came to rest in a grassy area.”
Both occupants were transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center in Vernal for treatment. One of the victims was later transported to Salt Lake City for further treatment.
The crash will be further investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
