WEBER COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 9, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — All Weber District schools and facilities are closed Wednesday, officials said.
“Due to ongoing, widespread power outages and other wind-related safety concerns, all Weber School District schools and facilities will be closed today,” said a news release from the district. “Notifications were sent to parents and students earlier this morning.”
A high wind warning remained in effect until 9 a.m. throughout the district Wednesday.
“The forecast then calls for improving conditions throughout the day,” the news release said. “This will allow us to assess our facilities and do any necessary clean up.”
It is anticipated that outdoor fields at Weber County high schools will be open by 3:30 p.m., the email said.
“Extra-curricular activities may continue which would include sports practices,” the news release said. “This will be a school-based decision. Students personally impacted by recent storms will not be required to attend.”
