MIDWAY, Utah, Aug. 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A dog was shot and killed Saturday morning in Midway, and the person believed to be responsible faces potential charges.

Wasatch County sheriff‘s deputies responded about 9 a.m. Saturday to a Midway residence where a dog had been shot and killed.

“Upon investigation, it was preliminarily determined that probable cause exists to believe that the individual involved unlawfully discharged a firearm within city limits and committed aggravated cruelty to an animal,” the sheriff’s office stated in a news release Monday.

The Wasatch County Attorney’s Office will review the case for potential charges, police said.

“This incident is being taken very seriously,” Sheriff Jared Rigby said. “The safety of our community, including its animals, is the top priority for our office. We are thoroughly investigating this incident to ensure all appropriate actions are taken.”
