EMERY COUNTY, Utah, May 31, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Not everyone got the holiday weekend off.

“Well, you can’t keep a good dog (and his handler) down,” says a social media post from the Emery County Sheriff‘s Office.

“Over Memorial Day weekend, Deputy Dak and his human partner, Deputy Smith, seized a large quantity of controlled substance during a vehicle search.

“Dak indicated on several containers and inside was located 59 pounds of marijuana, 13 packages of THC cartridges, and 19 kilos of a white powder. We suspect the powder to be cocaine or fentanyl,” the statement says.

The case is still under investigation, the sheriff’s office statement says. “ECSO is grateful for our zealous K-9 unit and the support of our Emery County-ites.”

Facebook commenters pretty much all proclaimed the officers to be “good boys.”

• “The goodest of boys,” one reader wrote.

• “Give those boys a treat!” another suggested.

A third suggested the menu.

• “He deserves a good steak for dinner,” another poster said, without specifying which “he” deserved that reward.
