Layton City Fire ambulance workers, others injured in South Ogden collision

SOUTH OGDEN, Utah, Aug. 6, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Four Layton City Fire employees transporting a critical care patient Monday evening were injured when their ambulance flipped onto its side following a collision with an SUV.

The collision happened at about 6:34 p.m. at 5600 South and Harrison Boulevard in South Ogden, a statement from Layton City says.

“The ambulance was in the process of transporting a 90-year-old patient who was experiencing a pulmonary issue and required critical care,” the statement says.

“The patient was subsequently transported to the hospital by another ambulance.”

The city statement does not indicate whether that patient sustained additional injuries.

“All four Layton City Fire Department employees sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The SUV involved in the incident was carrying six occupants. All occupants except the driver were evaluated and released on scene. The driver was transported by ambulance with minor injuries.”

The South Ogden Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, the Layton City statement says.
