Little Cottonwood reopened hours after dump truck rolls, burns

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, June 10, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Little Cottonwood Canyon, State Route 210, has reopened hours after a lengthy closure after a dump truck rolled on the roadway, and caught fire.

The incident is at milepost 6 (Upper Vault) early Monday morning.

The roadway was closed in both directions, and drivers were advised to find alternate routes. Agencies on scene include Unified Fire, Unified Police, and the Utah Department of Transportation.

The dump truck driver was pulled out of his vehicle by rescuers.

The road was later partially opened, with drivers from different directions taking turns in a single lane while a tow truck was called in. It was afternoon before normal traffic patterns were restored.
